Hello from 35,000 feet. This week my work is sending me to Los Angeles and unfortunately I had to fly out on Sunday which cuts into our family time. But that also means I have some free time (other than bedtime) to blog.
This weekend was full of fun since Halloween fell on a Friday this year. We hung out with friends, ate chili, drank some adult beverages and finally welcomed the cool weather to Dallas. It has been pretty warm so far this Fall, but we actually hit 40 degree temps the past couple nights which makes me very happy.
Saturday we woke up early and got all bundled up for a brunch date with some friends we had not seen in forever. I am totally that mom who matches my outfit to my kid’s and I made Dustin snap some pics that I am sure Boston will hate when he is a teenager.
We had a great time at brunch but not too long after Dustin felt like he was coming down with something so I was on full mommy duty for the rest of the day. And poor little Boston started developing a cough not too long after which made me even sadder to leave them.
But this morning, despite them not feeling 100%, we got up early and made a run to the grocery store for some festive coffee creamer (Peppermint Mocha for me and Butternut Toffee for D) and waffle mix. We stayed in our PJs most of the morning until Boston went down for his early morning nap and I hopped in the bath with my coffee and my laptop and watched Christmas with the Kranks, which is one of my all-time favorite movies.
After procrastinating as much as I possibly could, I kissed the boys goodbye and headed to the airport. I guess I was in such a rush that I forgot to grab my ID out of Dustin’s wallet. I have total mom brain these days. But thankfully the TSA let me through after taking a few extra precautions during security checks.
Now I am on a plane with only a few sleeps until I can get back home to the boys and start decorating the house for Christmas. But just for the record I give Thanksgiving plenty of love; it just wouldn’t feel right not having Christmas décor up for the holiday.
