Our Seaside Vacation

Ever since we went to one of my best friend's weddings in Seaside, Florida, Dustin and I have been dying to go back. If you have seen the movie, The Truman Show, you've seen Seaside. It is the absolute most perfect and charming town I have ever been to in my life.
Seaside is a small town, situated on a gorgeous white sand beach, that looks like it's straight out of a magazine. The town is full of cute cottages that sleep anywhere from 2 people all the way up to 15+. We stayed about a mile away from the actual Seaside Beach, in a neighborhood named Watercolor that was full of brand new construction that you could rent. When I saw our house online I knew we had to stay there even if we couldn't find 10 more people to travel with us to fill up the 3,500 square feet of pure gorgeousness. It ended up just being my parents, me, D and Boston which actually was perfect and made for a really laid back stay.
When traveling with a little one, I find renting a house to be so much more convenient than staying in a hotel. We were able to stock the huge fridge with all of the foods B loves. He had his very own room. And we were able to swim in the pool, relax in the hot tub, and spend quality time with the family and not worry about waking him. So perfect.
We used 360 Blue Properties to rent our house (447 East Royal Fern Way), and we couldn't have been happier with them. We had an issue with our hot tub and pool heater not working properly but they were so sweet and professional each time we called them. They were able to get the pool heated just in time for the nice weather to roll in and we enjoyed it so much.
360 Blue also has a "Concierge Service" you can use to make special arrangements throughout your stay. They can do everything from in home massages to private beach bonfires complete with s'mores. But my favorite part, they have a "Baby Concierge Service" you can use to rent toys, high chairs, gates for the stairs, & pack n plays (our house already came with one we could use). There isn't anything nicer than not having to lug around extra stuff through the airport. We ended up using them to rent a Pull Behind Baby Trailer for our bikes (the house came with 4 bikes) and Boston loved riding to the beach and into town for meals.
Most of our days were spent lounging around in our pjs, hanging out under umbrellas at beach, eating delicious food from food trucks in the town square, date nights trying new wines at the local wine bar, and watching sunsets from their most well known bar/resturant, Bud and Alley's.
The last few days of the trip I started to get really sad that the trip would be over and I would have to leave this perfect town. But most of all I knew I would miss this gorgeous dream home and all of the fun we had in it. We can't wait until our next trip to Seaside and maybe one day we will have a home of our own there. What a dream.

Life Lately

Hi ladies!! I am back. I have taken a nice mini break so that I can focus on an upcoming product launch that I cannot wait to share with y'all! You are going to LOVE it. But to get you all up to speed on what has been going on around here these last few weeks, I figured I would put together a little Instagram Round-up! So here ya' go!

I have been busy, busy traveling for work. So busy that I got an email from our HR team saying that I may owe taxes in California. Wait, what?? Time to slow down on the Cali travel I guess.
(Taking a little break from work to relax. If you haven't been to the Del Coronado Hotel in San Diego, you have to check it out. It is one of the most gorgeous hotels I have seen and full of so much fun history. They also make a pretty mean cocktail too. ;P)

I have been hanging out with my sis before she goes back to college. Boston and I are going to miss her so much but we did make great use of the time she was here.
I have also spent some free time hanging out with girl friends which is always a great excuse for getting a little dolled up. But in true mama style, I had to have an iced coffee on the way because I am so not accustomed to being up past 10pm.
//Romper: Forever 21//
And to add to the "To Do" list and craziness, we have finalized our house plans! We are so excited and can't wait to break ground. All of those details and updates to come soon.

I hope all of you are having a great summer and checking all of those items off your "Summer Bucket Lists".

Happy Pre-Friday!!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Last week, I decided to take a much needed break from blogging. We had a death in the family right before my birthday that was pretty unexpected. We also closed on our dream lot last Monday. I left for a work trip Tuesday. And I've been doing a lot of work on an upcoming project that I cannot wait to share with you all. But I am back with a Weekend Wrap-Up. I feel like I haven't done one of these in forever!!

This weekend was all about family time and fun. We didn't have any parties to throw or attend. No real errands to run. Just plenty of time to spend brunching, splashing at the pool, and lounging around watching movies.
Boston liked the water, despite what it looks like in the picture above, but he would have honestly rather just sat in the pool chair eating Puffs all afternoon.
We ate brunch in the downtown of a small town near us. Oh my goodness. The Crab Stuffed Avocados had to have been one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life! Delicious. After we filled ourselves with those and truffle pizza (I was in heaven) we walked off our food at the local farmer's market. It was perfect.
Sunday we got some supplies for the boat and brunched some more. Brunch is by far my favorite meal if you can't tell. I think it's probably because it's the only meal where you can have an adult beverage and a coffee at the same time and it's perfectly acceptable. ;P
And then spent the rest of the day relaxing at home.
It was the perfect kind of weekend.

Baby On The Go

We are always so darn busy during the week and most weekends and I find that the littlest things help me feel like I have things more "together" when everything around me is so chaotic. One of those things that keeps me sane is "Food Prep Sunday's". This is so key for us. We do a lot of shopping, cooking meats, chopping fruits and veggies, and then throwing them in to-go containers.

This week we tried out some new Wash or Toss bowls from Nuby that are perfectly portioned to Boston sized meals. It makes it so much nicer to have something just his size so we don't waste food or fill up the fridge with half full containers. And the colors are so fun; I like to mix and match them. ;D

Now on to the Nuby Wash or Toss cups. I was a little nervous about these creating a huge mess since they aren't leak proof. But as you can tell in the picture below they do pretty well when toppled on their side. These are a huge hit with Boston too because he prefers to drink out of straws and gets kinda frustrated on some of the toddler straw cups because the liquid doesn't come out as fast as he would like. He is growing way too fast for mama.

I have a picnic on my Summer Bucket List that we haven't had time for yet... Go figure. But when we do, both of these will be tossed in with the basket of goodies.

What We Wore Wednesday: Little Arrow Co.

This week we are featuring a shop I have followed from almost the very beginning, Little Arrow Co. I have seen this pretty mama's shop grow so quick over the past few months and it's no surprise because she has got to have some of the most adorable graphic tee's for your cutie.

When I saw the "Will Pose For Puffs" tee I knew B had to have it. He is puff OBSESSED. And truthfully that is one of the only ways I can get him to sit still for pictures right now. He is all over the place. :)

Also catching my eye, is her "Posing for the Mamarazzi" shirt which is also fitting because for whatever reason I feel like I need to document everything these days. They just grow way too fast so I am always snapping pics so that I don't somehow forget all of the adorable things he is doing. On that note, a friend of mine gave me some great advice the other day, to take more video because audio is often forgotten as the years go by and those soft and sweet little voices will be such a great memory one day.

Happy Hump Day!!

What To Pack In Your Diaper Bag

Everything you need to know about packing your diaper bag like a pro. Know what to pack, what to leave at home, and how to save space.
Okay, so the actual diaper bag a girl chooses is a pretty personal selection. Dustin just about died when I told him that I had been eying this gorgeous designer diaper bag and really thought I deserved it for all of the aches, pains, nausea, and heartburn I had gone through. When I pulled up that beauty online, I remember him saying something like "You are really going to spend that kind of money on something you literally put sh!t in??" Fair enough. But I explained to him that it would basically be my purse for the next few years so I really wanted to like it. Eventually he caved. But he still can't believe I actually put dirty diapers in that thing. ;P

I know some of you probably think I am a completely ridiculous and I won't even deny that sometimes I am... But if I had to give advice on what to look for in a bag, I would say find one you love and make sure it has lots and lots of pockets! I am a freak about organization so I love how my bag has a place for just about everything. It makes finding what you need so much easier which is so important since most of the time you are working with only one free hand.

Okay now on to the contents...
Obviously.
OK so not only do I carry around the regular wipes for diaper changes, I also bring along ones for boogies and ones for toys that get hurled onto the floor. This may be a total "first time mom" thing to do but for now everything pretty much gets wiped.
I fell in love with these cute little bags the first time I walked into a baby store. We use them in the travel size to hold a spare set of clothes for B in case of a "blowout". And should one occur, the messy clothes can go right in the bag to keep the mess contained.
I love this brand not only for myself, but for B too since it's alcohol free. Now that he is all over the place, and wanting to grab everything, sanitizer is a must.
I mentioned a few of mine and B's favorites in a post a few months back and they still hold true. Our favorites are the ones that work with these ring links so they can be clipped to the highchair or shopping cart. Otherwise we are picking up toys all.the.time.
Things were really easy when I was nursing and didn't even have to worry about a bottle. But things got a little trickier when my milk dried up and we had to use formula. Thankfully a friend brought over some of those single serve formula packets which made packing for outings so much nicer.  Now that Boston is old enough to eat real food, things are even easier. All we normally pack now are his favorite puffs (for bribing ;P) and a banana or pouch in case we get trapped somewhere without snacks. Otherwise he eats what we eat and loves drinking out of a regular straw.
The surest way to get B to take a nap is to hand him something soft to snuggle up to. So of course we take a soft blanket just about everywhere we go.We love how light weight these are and they take up way less space than some of the thicker ones.
- SAMPLES -
Don't throw those babies away!! One of the best things I did was make a little emergency kit from the samples we got while registering. All I did was get a little bag and packed it with mini diaper rash cream, nipple cream, nursing pads, lotion... really any tester that I received was placed in the bag for emergencies and it takes up way less space than lugging around a full size version.
- OTHER OPTIONAL ITEMS -
- If your child uses a paci don't forget that puppy! B is a thumb sucker now but in the beginning we never left home without a paci.
- Baby carrier/sling. We use this one.
- Shopping cart cover. Our favorite here.
- Nursing cover. I loved this brand.
- Medicines. Tylenol, Motrin, Gas Drops, Teething Tablets.
- Food and snacks for you!

Summer Ann

Life Is Good

Real Good... And so so so busy. Our days lately have consisted of a lot of work, even more travel, and a ton of fun once the work is done.

We also are under contract on the most perfect piece of land for our dream home which means each day we spend a little bit of time getting our ducks in a row before closing. We have signed more documents than I care to count. But the fun is really beginning because we had our first meeting with an architect and should have a first round of plans in a few weeks which is so exciting.  And hopefully we will close on the land pretty soon too and really make things 100% official!

We took Boston and my parents out to look at the land this weekend because we had a ton of rain and we were hoping the creek in our backyard didn't turn the lot into a river. It didn't so looks like we are good to go on that front because I doubt we will ever get more rain than we have the last couple of months. Hopefully.
In my free time I've been stealing kisses from this busy babe.
Having dinner dates with this handsome guy.

//My Shirt//
And sneaking in some cuddles when all of the crazy has taken its toll.
We've also taken advantage of the first sunny weekend we've had in months.
And lunched with GiGi and Aunt Chi Chi when I needed a little break from working.
Life is so so so good right now and I am very thankful for God's many blessings.

Summer Ann

Hair Product Favs: From The Drugstore

The hair products you use are so important in the final outcome of all that time spent in front of the mirror. But you don't have to spend a ton of money to get really great stuff. Actually, everything I am using right now (well, except for this purple shampoo I use once a week to keep my blonde from getting brassy) comes straight from the grocery store. My hair girl is always telling me that she will pick me up some "better" products at the beauty supply store but why fix what ain't broke, right? And why spend more money when you can get the same look for less? I am always down to save a few bucks.
Y'all know I am "All About That Bass" when it comes to hair. The bigger the better. So I always make sure the products I use are made for volume. My favorite shampoo and conditioner for the past few years can be found at any grocery or drugstore. One tip for you girls though… NEVER put conditioner on your roots. That kills the volume and makes your hair look greasy faster.

If you have followed the blog for a little while, you know how obsessed with this stuff I am. It not only keeps my hair looking clean for days between shampoos but it also creates texture, volume, and camouflages my roots when they really, really need to be touched up. That will only work for you blondies though.

This is another one of those products that only needs to go at the ends of your hair but it works so great to tame those split ends and help make curls look and feel super soft. Just like a baby's booty.

So my mom and sister have used this stuff forever and on our last family vacation we forgot our hairspray and needed to borrow some. Ever since, D and I have been hooked! It has such great hold for Dustin's parted hairstyle and really helps volumize and hold my waves. Win, win!

I love these because they don't crease my hair.  I tie up my hair when I go to sleep and when I wake up it isn't a matted, creased mess from tossing and turning. So that time I spent curling my hair Sunday, might last me until Tuesday.

XOXO,
Summer Ann

Baseball Themed Baby Shower

This weekend me and some of my closest girlfriends from high school teamed up to throw a baseball themed baby shower for one of our friends. It is so much more fun throwing a party when you have so much help. It really lightens the load. And after throwing so many bridal showers, I have really enjoyed changing it up with some baby showers recently. There is just something so much more exciting about planning for a sweet little baby than seeing your buddy open up yet another set of bowls.

Now before we get into all of the fun pictures, I have to tell a little story about the disastrous night making the cupcakes. I had come up with what I thought would be a genius idea for cupcakes using white icing and the pull apart Twizzlers for the ball laces. I guess I wasn't the first one to come up with the idea after searching Pinterest but they seemed easy enough and very cute.

So Saturday night I purchased all of the ingredients and began baking. Apparently these suckers aren't as easy as I had thought and I ended up spending hours meticulously trying to push those itty bitty pieces of Twizzlers into the icing so they would stay put. And I am such a perfectionist which didn't help.

Well after about 3 hours I was finally finished and put all of the cupcakes on a cookie sheet up on the counter and Dustin and I went outside to have a drink and relax. After about 2 minutes of being outside, we hear our dog (a 100 lb chocolate lab) barking so we go in to make sure everything is alright. To my horror (and my hubby's amusement) I see Bennington sitting, staring at the tray of cupcakes which once held 18 but now only contained 3…. Our hungry, hungry hippo devoured 15 cupcakes. Wrapper and all. And the little punk is barking because he can't reach the last 3. Awesome.

So back to the store Dustin went taking one of the cupcakes with him as a snack. I placed the other 2 in the oven so they would be safe from D and the dog and finished my cocktail. Dustin came through the door about 30 minutes later with all of the stuff to try again so I  turned on the oven completely forgetting about those 2 surviving cupcakes. Not my day at all. I think it's safe to say I will probably never volunteer to make the cupcakes again. ;P
