A Day In The Life

I love reading peoples' routines because I am a huge fan of a schedule. It makes me feel like my life is a little less chaotic when everything around me is changing non-stop. I am pretty lucky that my job allows a little flexibility in schedule so that I can kinda tailor my office times to my lifestyle. And I think they are more lenient because so much of the time I am away from my family on business travel, which sometimes happens to extend to weekends and outside of regular office hours. As for the hubby, he makes his own hours and can work from home everyday if he wants, so his schedule is always changing day to day, but I need a little more structure hence the schedule below.

That darn alarm goes off and it's time to wake up and get the day started. I try not to hit the snooze too many times because that sweet boy of mine usually wakes up around 6:30 and I need to get a bath in beforehand or else it won't happen. Whether or not Dustin is going into the office or staying home, he wakes up at the same time and makes me coffee, feeds Bennington, and preps our lunches.

Boston is fed, changed, and we are trying to head out the door to the sitter's house. Sometimes this doesn't happen but it's what I try and aim for.
I get to the office, drop my stuff off at my desk, and make my second cup of coffee. That second cup is almost always necessary.

Every day at noon I get a call from Boston (the sitter) telling me how the day is going. I look forward to that call everyday. I almost always work through lunch and eat something quick at my desk so that I can head home to see that sweet little guy sooner.

I shut down the computer, head to the sitter's to pick up Boston, and then home to get dinner started.

We are all home for dinner. I usually try and prep some freezer meals (my favorite ones are posted HERE) because Boston is such a handful and it makes actually making a full meal a real challenge. Not to mention, after a day of work away from your baby, who wants to spend that precious time over a stove? Not me.

After dinner we spend time playing with Boston. We read books, play with his ever growing toy stash, or go on walks which I think may be everyone's favorite thing to do. Especially with this awesome weather we have been having lately.

We start our bedtime "routine". I put that in quotations because it really isn't much of a routine at all. It usually just consists of a bottle, diaper change, putting on jammies, brushing teeth and sometimes a bath.  We don't do baths everyday for him yet but I am sure in a few months that will change as he gets messier and messier. For now he stays pretty clean all day so it isn't necessary for us but he loves them when he gets them.
Boston is asleep and now I can get done whatever I couldn't while he was awake. I use this time to workout, paint my nails, pick up the house, get laundry done, blog and lately this time has been spent crafting for his 1st birthday party. I am so excited for it!

Okay so this is going to make us sound like that old couple but we normally head to bed around now. We don't go to sleep just yet but we love to lay in bed, have a glass of wine (or a cucumber mint vodka drink ;P), and watch our shows. We have a nice little schedule of mind numbing reality shows and a few prime-time series that we love. Our favorites right now are Empire, Teen Mom (judge if you must), any of the Real Housewives (the OC and Beverly Hills are my favs), and Bates Motel. It's just what we need to end a very busy day.

  1. I always love reading how everyone fills their days too! On a side note, my husband and I may have gone to bed at 7:45 the other night...:)

    1. Hey I obviously see no problem with that. ;P

  2. I love hearing about other people's days!
